Corona del Mar is home to many opportunities for individuals to get involved with their community, and throughout the next two months, Student Visionary of Blood Cancer United Leah Krylovetsky, a sophomore at CdM, will be raising money for blood cancer patients and their families, and is asking for the help of students and our community as a whole to support their cause. As a part of Blood Cancer United, Krylovetsky helps to support and “fund cutting-edge research leading to breakthroughs in immunotherapy, genomics, and personalized medicine,” as well as providing free support and education to blood cancer patients and their families. Blood Cancer United also helps organize advocates to drive policy changes to advance the development of new cancer treatments and care.
Krylovetsky is currently building a team to create a campaign strategy and engage communities to raise awareness and funds for Blood Cancer United’s mission. If students or families are interested, there are many ways to get involved: making a donation, joining her team, and exploring partnerships are just a few ways. Every donation, big or small, will go to helping advance lifesaving research for the over 1.5 million people in the United States alone who are currently living with or in remission from blood cancer. Assisting families facing blood cancer through donations can also be deducted from taxes. “If you’d like to help fundraise alongside us, I would love to have you on the team,” Krylovetsky explains, “Your support and creativity can make an amazing difference.” Regarding the partnership, if there is a business in mind that would be interested in supporting the cause, whether it’s through a sponsorship, an in-kind donation, or spreading the word, please contact [email protected] or [email protected] to get in touch with Krylovetsky. This opportunity would also benefit the company by gaining new clients.
Blood cancer affects families across the country, but initiatives like Krylovetsky’s can influence change and mobilize an entire community, potentially to the national level. Krylovetsy and Champagne’s Kitchen are partnering for a dine out day where 25% of the profit made on March 11th will go towards Blood Cancer United. Regardless of donating, joining the team, or fostering partnerships, participating in any form contributes to research and assistance for families affected by blood cancer. Information on how to join Krylovetsky’s team or donate can be found below.
