As we step into the New Year of 2026, it’s important to reflect on the best moments of 2025. Looking back at the past is always a way to improve our future, especially by reviewing the resolutions we made last year and assessing whether they were fulfilled. Some people use New Year’s resolutions as a way to get through the year, something that can help them become a better person. Whether you use them to improve your overall personality or use them to make yourself a goal before the end of the year, everyone has at least something in their life that could be somehow worked on.
Matea Ginsberg’s (11) new years resolution has been to “never just sit at home all day”, to get up and go out of the house to do something. Completing this goal has been a good challenge for her because even when she hasn’t been feeling great or the weather hasn’t been good, she has been able to see friends more and spend time with family. Even if she was just driving around with a friend, going on a walk, running an errand, or going to the beach, she always wanted to be active and keep herself from being lazy. Her main reason for setting this resolution was to improve herself in a way that would make her more productive, as well as help her with finding things to do instead of sitting at home.
Ava Batram’s (10) new years resolution was to improve on her sleep schedule, wanting to get at least eight hours of sleep per night, no matter how stressful sports or school were. She felt as though she had completed this goal as she set herself a time to go to bed every night, knowing that “(she) had to stop studying and go to bed”. This allowed her to prioritize herself over her work and still manage to be able to complete her work by the deadline. She felt as though it was a good challenge because she felt as though she was able to focus more on her school work at night, but she realised getting more sleep would be better for her in the long run. The primary reason for Ava’s goal was that she realized how exhausted she was during the day, which overall impacted her health and her ability to complete work.
Regardless of whether you achieved your goals for 2025, everyone has shown their determination to improve themselves through achievements and goals for that year. Each accomplishment has taken a step forward to becoming healthier, improving relationships, and developing as an individual, which means we are all making progress to move our lives forward in the best way possible. You can use both successes and challenges that you faced during 2025 to set new goals that you will aspire to reach in the years ahead, and will continue to strive to do something every day to improve your life. Even though the goal of achieving the New Year’s Resolution has been reached, the steps to becoming a better person are still something that everyone is working on all the time.
