This holiday season, many people are preparing for the winter break, family time, and getting into
a cheery mood. But for some, they have a more immediate pump up for the wintertime.
Concerts have grown to be a huge part of modern culture and appeal to all ages, especially
teens, in which CdM High School just happens to be full of. And with finals coming up, a fun
night away is exactly what some people need. Izzy Wang ‘27 experienced this when she went to
the Tate Mccrea concert in the fall. “You should bring a bag that fits the regulations and a
camera. You should wear whatever matches the theme, and if the album is like a disco ball, you
should dress sparkly. You should definitely eat beforehand and just have a great time! Oh, and
go with people you will enjoy hanging out with for the night, and make sure they are reliable!”
Izzy gave great advice all around, and concert-goers should definitely pay close attention to her
great advice!
Some things people should be wary of when attending a concert are to be present and aware
of their surroundings. To ensure lots of fun and safety, this is always the number one rule to
follow. The second thing is all about setting your phone down and minimizing what you record. It
is fun and a great way to remember things by videoing them, but at some point it gets
excessive and takes away from the one thing that should be the most in-person of all: live
music. Most people spend hours of their day listening to recorded music, but rarely do they get a
chance to see it live, let alone see it performed by their idol. The third thing is to take
advantage of letting loose of all of the stress in life and having a great time, remember to dance
and smile.
Another CDM concert-goer, Sloan Kelly ‘26, echoes Wang’s wisdom and shares a tip of her own,
“The last concert I went to was Blank Pink. Make sure you bring a small clear bag, and it’s fun to
dress up in whatever the theme or artist is. I wore black and pink.” Kelly said with a bright smile and
enthusiasm (she’s probably thinking back to that wonderful concert night).
The overarching theme from these two experienced concert gals is to make a concert night
worthwhile and experience it safely. Make sure to check out upcoming opportunities and have an
amazing time!
