As the air turns crisp and the leaves begin to change, fall opens the door to a season full of cozy, exciting activities. Whether it’s going outside to enjoy cooler weather, trying seasonal treats, or checking out festive events with friends, there are plenty of ways to make the most of this time of year. From active adventures to simple relaxation, the season has something for everyone to enjoy.
Fall is filled with chilly weather and aesthetic views, with leaves shifting into vibrant colors and outfits transitioning from tank tops and shorts to sweaters and jeans. The change in mood is reflected by festive decorations for fall and Halloween, as well as seasonal treats such as pies, pumpkin bread, and cinnamon rolls that bring in the spirit. Exciting activities accompany these flavors, such as apple picking to create apple pie, cider, or caramel apples. Even nights spent at the beach transform into cozy autumn gatherings with blankets, s’mores, and hot chocolate. Other activities include bike rides to take in the colorful leaves and crispy autumn air, or trips to a corn maze, whether scary or family-friendly, to enjoy a classic adventure full of twists and turns.
Many students at CdM take part in these fall festivities. A popular activity during the fall season is visiting pumpkin patches and carving pumpkins. CdM junior Bridget Strom shared, “My friends and I visit pumpkin patches together and carve pumpkins after.” She explains that this tradition is a great way to embrace the autumn spirit as a community. Strom also highlighted local spots that really help set the mood for the season, expressing, “The Moongoat Cafe is a great place to study and get good drinks.” She added that she enjoys the balance of fall indoor and outdoor entertainment, “I love the mix of both activities, football games and pumpkin picking outside, and watching movies and baking inside.”
CdM sophomore Marlo McGwire also shared some fall favorites beyond pumpkin carving. “There’s Knott’s Scary Farm, haunted houses, and farmers markets,” McGwire shared, pointing out the variety of seasonal activities that keep autumn exciting. She also mentioned small traditions that help her embrace fall, “I like to get pumpkin spice lattes, watch Gilmore Girls, and sometimes get fall color chrome nails to get into the spirit.” McGwire recommended that others join in on the seasonal fun as well, saying, “Watching The Blair Witch Project or other scary movies with friends is a fun way to get scared and laugh together while getting into more of a Halloween mood.”
Each fall festivity brings out the fun, relaxing, and adventurous side of autumn. Since the season only lasts about three months, it’s important to make the most of every moment, whether that means going outside to enjoy the fall adventures that await or staying inside with friends and family for cozy relaxation. As schedules shift and the days grow shorter, fall reminds everyone to embrace the changes and savor the season.
