The cast for Avengers: Doomsday was live streamed for five hours and twenty-seven minutes on Marvel Studios’ official Instagram and YouTube, generating 275 million digital views according to the Walt Disney Company website. The movie officially releases exclusively in theaters on May 1st, 2026.
This reveal was jam-packed with a myriad of all-star actors, including Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Vanessa Kirby as Invisible Woman, Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Captain America, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Wyatt Russell as John Walker, Tenoch Huerta Mejía as Namor, Simu Liu as Shaun/Shang-Chi, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/White Wolf, Letitia Wright as Shuri/Black Panther, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/Thing, Kelsey Grammer as Dr. Hank McCoy/Beast, Lewis Pullman as Sentry, Danny Ramirez as Joaquín Torres/Falcon, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Winston Duke as M’Baku, Hannah John as Ghost, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier/Professor X, Ian McKellen as Magneto, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, James Marsden as Cyclops, Channing Tatum as Gambit, Pedro Pascal as Mr. Fantastic, and last, but certainly not least, Robert Downey Jr. as Dr. Doom.
Kayde Osgood, CdMHS alumnus, former Trident Magazine Editor-in-Chief, and Marvel enthusiast, explains that they are looking forward to almost everyone in the cast. When initially finding out about Hiddleston’s return as Loki, Osgood was “in line at Starbucks when [they] found out the news about his return and had to get out of line…to compose [themself] because [they] just couldn’t contain [their] excitement.” Freshman Kairi Roby notes that she is most excited to see Ian McKellen as Magneto, highlighting that even though “he is normally a villain, Magneto has always been such an interesting and amazing character.”
Although there are many sensational features in this film, some decisions surprised Marvel fans. Osgood comments that they were shocked to find out that Tom Holland would not be returning as Spider-Man, and Roby was surprised that Logan (Wolverine) was not also included. Forbes Magazine also touched on the fact that Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk was excluded.
This feels like the end of casting announcements, right? You would be surprised, though, since Robert Downey Jr. and Marvel Studios tease another cast announcement for Avengers: Doomsday, stating that “there’s always room for more.”
