Just like every year, Corona del Mar’s Spring Dance Show highlights the hard work and dedication of students in Dance 1, Dance 2, Dance 3, CdM’s Song Team, and Orchesis Dance Co. The performance allows dancers and student choreographers to showcase the routines they have spent months preparing, while allowing family and friends to see their commitment and passion come to life on stage. Featuring a variety of dance styles, the Spring Dance Show celebrates the talent, creativity, and teamwork that make dance such a demanding yet rewarding sport.
Coco Hamilton (10), one of the HS Dance 3 students, expresses that the couple of weeks building up to the show were stressful for her, as learning a new dance right before the show was not as organized as she would have wanted. Hamilton’s favorite piece that she performed was Me Against the Music because she loved the costume and the song choice. The Spring Dance Show ultimately creates a space for dancers to connect, and Hamilton felt as though it allowed her and her classmates to work with each other as a team and “helped our friendships grow even outside of seeing each other regularly at school.” Overall, Hamilton believed that she achieved her goals performance-wise,
Olivia Ostrowski (10), a dancer from HS Dance 3 and also CdM’s Song Team, valued the two weeks before the show as the dances she participated in seemed clean and also performed well on stage. The piece called Look was Ostrowski’s favorite because she enjoyed the technical skills that were utilized in this dance. Like Hamilton, Ostrowski agrees that the dance show allows for friendships to build between the other students in their class. She believes that “the more you perform every year, the easier it gets to perform on a stage”, and was glad that she was able to demonstrate another few months of her hard work.
