As the end of the school year is approaching and sports seasons are coming to an end, seniors are starting to say goodbye to the sports they have grown accustomed to. Sports may or may not be a big part of their lives, but for some people, it is their family and their second home. Addie Salas (12th grade) is on the pep squad and shares some of her favorite memories “I love every part about it. Creating friendships with the girls and getting to be a part of the team, and knowing the girls will always be there for me, made the experience so much fun.” These shared experiences are what make leaving a sport at the end of the year so emotional for many students. Another senior, Katellyn Aguilar, shared her experience in water polo. “My favorite memory was the swim test we did every couple of months. All the girls would be cheering me on at the finish line. It was funny”. Even small moments like these can become lasting memories for seniors as they look back on the good times with their teammates. A final student, Damian Zeno Herrera, shared, “Watching Myles Petek winning the hot dog competition and throwing up after was one of my favorite memories. I also loved being around my friends every day and making memories at practice”. For the class of 2026, the end of their sports seasons isn’t just a goodbye to their sport; it’s a celebration of the memories they made along the way.
