It was a night to remember for Corona del Mar High School volleyball as the program celebrated its senior night, a tradition that brings students, parents, teachers, and coaches together to honor the graduating players.
The gym was filled with senior banners, posters, flowers, and balloons, all creating school spirit. Seniors Matisse Robertson, Casi Doll, Riley Card, Izzie Ashcraft, and Stella Welton were each recognized on the court, walking down a red carpet with their parents, as teammates presented them with flowers. The crowd would cheer as they shared their favorite memories and moments from their time with the program, filling the gym with both pride and emotion. Every level of the CdM volleyball program cheered and supported the seniors, joined by the CdMHS cheer squad, who delivered high-energy performances throughout the game.
It was the final league game of the season, and the Sea Queens ended it on a high note, sweeping Fountain Valley High School in three sets, with a dominating 25-8 finish in the final set. The seniors shone with impressive plays that sealed the victory. Varsity player Casi Doll, a UC Riverside volleyball commit, reflected on the moment, “It’s very bittersweet. This was such a great way to end the league with such a great team and such amazing seniors. This experience has taught me to always work hard and push myself in every way possible.” Doll also offered advice to next year’s seniors, “It’s cliché, but it goes by so fast. Take it day by day because it’s truly over before you know it. Cherish every moment.”
Riley Card, the varsity team’s starting libero, shared her own reflections on the season, “Going to Hawaii this year was so much fun, we made so many memories that I will remember for the rest of my life. This program has meant everything to me, and it’s sad to be leaving, but I’m excited for the next adventure.” Card continued, “I have learned so much about leadership and how to support the younger girls, thanks to our coaches. I truly owe it all to them.”
As the night came to a close and the seniors helped pack away the nets and volleyballs one last time, the team felt the bittersweet end of an incredible season. The gym was hyped with excitement for the program’s future and pride for the seniors who will carry their CdM volleyball spirit into the next chapter of their lives.
