Artificial intelligence is continuing to advance with new innovations coming out every day. One such innovation is from Chat GPT, which now has the ability to profile people with its new memory feature. A user is able to tell the software personal details such as their cousin’s name, mother’s favorite memory, hobbies, and even their food allergies. Recently during the Superbowl, Microsoft’s copilot was broadcasted in a commercial that promised people it would help make their dreams become a reality. Tasks included in the commercial were coding, image-generating, and helping with studying. Dillon Wang, a 10th-grade student at Corona del Mar High School, believes that “as long as people use artificial intelligence responsibly, whether good or bad, innovations will affect the way people live their lives. I have started reading in the news more and more about the updates in A.I. with all aspects such as the chatbots, and the use in human jobs have intrigued me—computers have completely evolved from the year of 2000!” However, with the recent surge in popularity of artificial intelligence, there are also numerous problems to be addressed. Like many new innovations, products, and services, there are going to be unforeseen bugs and errors. Google CEO Sundar Pichai addressed Google’s problems with their image generation system which produced inappropriate and offensive results for users. He mentioned, “no A.I., is perfect, especially at this emerging stage of the industry’s development, but we know the bar is high for us and we will keep at it for however long it takes. And we’ll review what happened and make sure we fix it at scale.” Wang concurred, adding that “when the original smartphone came out, there were many problems and this should be considered as a stepping stone to a brighter future.” The future of artificial intelligence is bright, and the world will evolve with new technological advances in ways we can not even imagine.
