The teams battled for four quarters, with a referee and an announcer. After playing a challenging water polo game, the alumni beat the current sea queens 9-4. Senior Megan Morris stated, “We played some great water polo, but we got crushed by our incredible alumni.” CDM girls water polo have an impressive track record of recruitment to top universities across the country. Some alumni currently play at UCLA, Harvard, USC, and Stanford, all D1 schools. Additionally, all four current seniors are committed to the following schools; Bucknell, UCSB, Mkendree, and Brown.
After the game, the group had brunch by the pool and munched on bagels, doughnuts, and breakfast burritos. The alumni scrimmage was full of positive energy, competition, and, most importantly, fun. Senior Claire Eusey enjoyed the day as she said, “The scrimmage is a great way to reconnect with old teammates and have a friendly scrimmage to get us pumped up for the season.”
The sea queens kicked off their season on November 18th against Santa Margarita Catholic High School and have had two more games since then. Their current record stands 2-1. They hope and will continue to put in the work to continue a solid season to make it to the CIF playoffs in February. The Sea Queens have been the CIF-SS Champions in 2002-2006 & 2013 and the Pacific Coast League Champions in 2002-2017.
