Finland Feta Pasta: The Latest Trend of “CulinaryTok”

During the horrific toilet paper outages of 2020 in the United States, residents of Italy experienced losses in a different isle: the pasta isle. Pasta, the beloved kitchen staple, is once again in high demand after the trendy influencers of Culinary Tiktok gifted the For You Page with new recipes. This January, TiktTok has replaced the Gigi Hadid (Penne Alla Vodka) pasta with the delicious Finland pasta dish.
The Finnish Feta Pasta was first introduced to the world by Finnish food blogger Jenni Häyrinen in 2019; her delicious creation became so popular that it resulted in a shortage of feta cheese in Finland. Today, CdM’s beloved Sprinkles Cupcakes employee and self-proclaimed Chef  Emily Goodwin (Senior), shares her own take of this viral pasta dish.
Prior to our Zoom cooking lesson with Emily, I prepared the ingredients of the dish. The dish calls for 2 cups of Cherry Tomatoes, 1 block of Feta Cheese, 2 cups of Bowtie Pasta, Chilli flakes, Garlic powder (or 2 Garlic Cloves), Basil, and lastly Salt and Pepper.
Directions:
Being a Senior, Emily has altered the recipe to her busy schedule. Even though the original Finnish dish calls for a pan and an oven, Emily has switched this time-consuming step and instead replaced it with a skillet over a stovetop. First, she puts the block of Feta cheese in the middle of the skillet and surrounds it with olive oil, cherry tomatoes, and garlic. In a separate pot, she brings the pasta to a boil. Once the tomatoes and feta are golden-brown, she adds in the pasta and her seasoning. Lastly, she stirs the ingredients in the pan. The results? Simply, Heavenly. This dish is the right amount of salty, creamy, and cheesy. And the best part? You can cook it in less than 20 minutes before hoping on to your Lunch Zoom classes.
