This year, since CDM vocal cannot perform live, they put on a virtual winter concert. The concert was a viewing of Home Alone with special performances throughout the movie.

The concert starts with Mr. Ball ( CDM vocal’s director ) and his cat sitting down to watch Home Alone. As one is watching the first song comes up. It is Carol of the Bells sung by Vox Angelica. Then a performance of Let it Snow sung by Nadia Khazei. A collection of songs including O Tannenbaum ( by Tristan Everheart ), It’s the Most Wonderful Time of Year ( by Nothing but Treble ), Silver Bells ( by Noteoriety ), Jingle Bell Rock ( by Malia and Hazel Cottriel ), and many more incredible songs are performed throughout the movie. Along with short commentary from Mr. Ball and his cat, the performance kept its original charm along with that perfect CDM touch. It ended with Lena Pham singing Grown Up Christmas and a message reminding people how much everyone has needed each other this difficult year.

The performances were recorded on campus with each performer wearing a mask and socially distanced. Some were recorded from home and added with the on campus students. The students involved clearly put a lot of time and effort into this incredible performance. It was very well executed and flowed together exceptionally. This addition to a Christmas favorite was just the treat everyone needs this holiday season.

Nazli Nazemian Yazdi a twelfth grade student a part of CDM vocal said “Even though trying to put together a concert during hybrid learning was difficult to say the least, the final outcome was shockingly exciting. All those early morning rehearsals in the tennis courts were definitely worth it!”

The performance is still available to watch on YouTube. Just type in “ CDM winter concert Home Alone “. It is a great way to keep the holiday spirit alive.
