Last Friday on March 8th, Corona Del Mar High School’s “Inclusion Week” wrapped up the week with an “Inclusion Carnival”. According to according to freshman ASB member Pierce Hemphill, the goal of Inclusion Week is to get students to reach out and learn to be inclusive to all types of people, no matter what race, religion, or handicaps, and to treat everyone respectfully as equals.”

The carnival was held in the high school quad, complete with a dance floor flooded with colored lights, and DJ Morgan Morgan was spinning tunes, and keeping the energy and spirit of Inclusion Week to epic heights. The 300 building at Corona Del Mar High School was brimming with carnival mood, with all the usual fair games such as balloon pop, milk jug ball toss, and knockdown, lining up the building walls. Along with the games, there wer ping pong tables and photo booths to complete the festivities. The Inclusion Week carnival also had a bean bag toss and a nine hole mini golf. Each mini golf hole had a conversation starter for individuals to engage in random dialogue, such as “what is your favorite restaurant order?”

Carnivals are not complete without their usual guilty food pleasures. CDM’s quad was filled with different booths selling popcorn, popsicles,pizzas,, and even a separate table for candy and snacks. Inclusion Week was undoubtedly very successful in bringing together students after a busy week at school. As freshmen and ASB member Nathalie Moorhead stated, “ it was fun meeting new people, while hanging out with my friends.”
