On Saturday, February 8, the Corona del Mar girl’s and boy’s teams competed in CIF.  The girls who participated were sophomore Angelina García at 106 pounds, sophomore Lauren von Aspen at 126, sophomore Bella Walsh at 131, and senior Kiersten Muse at 137, and the boys who competed were sophomore Eric Rector, junior Bix Czegelski, junior Yosi Haim-Sarvey, sophomore Danny Reichner, and sophomore Emilio Franco.

The highly competitive tournament determined who would advance to the even more difficult Masters tournament on Saturday, February 11 and Sunday, February 12. The tournament was the culmination of the entire season and all the girls and boys fought their best.

Kiersten Muse qualified for Masters and earned second place in the tournament, only losing after a tough battle with a returning three-time state champion. Kiersten Muse is now a four-time CIF placer/

Eric Rector and Emilio Franco both advanced to the second day of CIF. Emilio Franco, who won third in the tournament with a record of 6-1, will go on to represent Corona del Mar in the Masters tournament.

Good luck Kiersten Muse and Emilio Franco at Masters and good job wrestlers on a great season! Next year will be even better.
