Places To Go Over the Summer

Micky Rai, Journalist

Summer. The word that brings bliss to every student around the world. The definition as stated by dictionary.com is “the season between spring and autumn, in the Northern Hemisphere from the summer solstice to the autumnal equinox, and in the Southern Hemisphere from the winter solstice to the vernal equinox.” But, in reality, the word summer means something else entirely. FUN. Summer means going to the beach, sleeping in, late nights, hanging out with friends and family, traveling to distant lands, and maybe just sitting on the porch and reading a book, with not a thought of school in your mind. This is what summer stands for.

Many people love to go traveling outside of the United States. Here are some amazing beachside resorts to go to over the summer: The Four Seasons Maldives on the island of Landaa Giraavaru features beautiful crystal clear oceans and white-sand beaches. Depending on how long they stay and how many people, the prices can vary. With the lowest starting at 1,148 USD per night. Although the cost may be high, it is an unforgettable experience.

Another beautiful island destination to go to is Barbados. One of the many islands in the Caribbeans, Barbados boasts fantastic beaches and clear blue oceans. It is a very popular tourist destination, so there are many accommodations and water activities. From snorkeling to underwater diving, jet skiing and more Barbados is one of the best Caribbean islands to visit on vacation.

Instead of having an out of country holiday, there are many cities and small towns to visit in California. Roadtripping up the Pacific Coast Highway, PCH, leads to many beautiful sights and places. Some great little towns to stop over and spend the day at include Solvang, Ojai, and Carmel-By-The-Sea. For example, in Solvang, there is a place called Ostrich Land where visitors can go and feed ostriches and emus.

Overall, summer means relaxation and beaches. Whether it’s long trips to distant beach resorts, or road trips up the PCH, every student yearns for summer to start.
